The original cast of the hit movie Ghostbusters will lend their faces and voices to a new computer game due to be released next year.

Bill Murray, Ernie Hudson, Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis have signed up for the project, with the latter two - who wrote the films - to create the game’s story.

Vivendi Games has produced successful video games The Godfather and Scarface in the same way.

Chief executive Bruce Hack said: ‘We noticed we did well on Scarface and were alert for new opportunities to turn iconic film products into games in a way that is a new manifestation of the franchise.’

The game will be set in New York in the early 90s - after Ghostbusters II.

Some original cast members, including Annie Potts as receptionist Janine, are also expected to appear.
