Festive Wii demand expected to outstrip supply
Games company Nintendo has said it is doing ‘everything possible’ to ensure stocks of its Wii meets the clamour of shoppers keen to get their hands on the popular game before Christmas.
Consumers however have been warned to expect disappointment as retailers struggle to keep up.
Nintendo plan to ship an extra 3.5 million consoles globally before Christmas, but it is not known how many will land on UK shores.
A spokeswoman for the company said: ‘The demand for Wii hardware globally has been unprecedented and higher than Nintendo could ever have anticipated.’
She added that it is possible that demand for the game will outstrip supply.
