Rock and metal music fest Sonisphere will return to the UK in 2014. The touring festival, which returns to our shores following a two year absence, will take place at Knebworth Park on Fri 4–Sun 6 July 2014. The Prodigy, Metallica and Iron Maiden have been confirmed as headliners, with Airbourne, Alice In Chains, Ghost, Gojira, Karnivool, Mastodon and Slayer also playing across the weekend. Metallica are running a scheme whereby fans purchasing a ticket to see the Californian rockers at Sonisphere will receive a code which will allow them to vote for their favourite Metallica track. The ranking of songs voted by ticket buyers will then be used as the set list for Metallica at Sonisphere.

Sonisphere was created in 2009, and takes place at various locations around Europe (and, in 2011, India). Metal legends from previous years include Faith No More, Soundgarden, Motörhead, Kiss, Alice Cooper and Mötley Crüe, while (relatively) newer acts such as Biffy Clyro, Marilyn Manson, My Chemical Romance and Slipknot have also appeared.
