In Return (Rock Action)
ROCK
More terrifying than Cradle of Filth coming to your house to do trick or treat and heavier than a sack of Ozzy’s spuds, Torche at least have the common decency not to take up much of anyone’s time, clocking this mini-album in at a trim 20 minutes. There are a few moments of elegant drama (‘Bring Me Home’), but the main purpose of the record is to blister the sensibilities and perforate the downstairs’ neighbours lugs with doom-laden drumming and velocity-happy yelping. Tracks with titles such as ‘Warship’ and ‘Tarpit Carnivore’ shouldn’t leave anyone in doubt about the sensory barrage in store.
