The creators behind popular animated figures Wallace and Gromit and the Creature Comforts series have unveiled a spin-off campaign to help raise awareness about disability.

Aardman Animations - working with the Leonard Cheshire Disability charity - will introduce six new characters as part of the Creature Discomforts campaign.

The likes of Peg the Hedgehog, Slim the Stick Insect and Spud the Slug will discuss the difficulties they face as a result of their disabilities.

Steve Harding-Hill, campaign director at Aardman, said: ‘This new campaign is an important step towards changing everyone’s attitudes to disability.

‘Working on it has been an amazing experience for us all at Aardman.

‘Taking the real voices and experiences of disabled people and creating animated stories that are informative, entertaining and poignant has been an immense but incredibly satisfying challenge.’

The charity claims nine out of ten disabled people in Britain have faced prejudice or discrimination.
