Gavin and Stacey leads comedy nominations
BBC Three series Gavin and Stacey has received seven nominations for this year’s British Comedy Awards.
Best TV comedy and best new British TV comedy are among the awards the show is vying for, while star Ruth Jones is up for best TV comedy actress and best female comedy newcomer.
Elsewhere, Friday Night Project’s Justin Lee Collins and Alan Carr will face competition from QI’s Stephen Fry for the best comedy entertainment personality prize.
Hosted by Jonathan Ross, this year’s event will be held on December 5.
Conspicuous by their absence, Ant and Dec have received no nominations for the comedy awards.
