Ozzy Osbourne has hit out at a pre-concert sting operation, which used his name to bring 500 people with outstanding arrest warrants to justice.

The police ruse in Cass County, North Dakota, sent out invites to a concert supposedly featuring the former Black Sabbath singer.

More than 30 showed up and were arrested.

However the reality TV star, who became notorious for biting off the head of a bat on stage, said the move was ‘insulting to me and to my audience’ and demanded an apology.

Sheriff Paul Laney said the operation was carried out to let the public know that efforts were being made to serve some 3,000 outstanding warrants.

He added that some had come forward despite recognising the ploy.

‘Three people called to say, ‘I got one of those letters. Since you’re being so creative, I’m turning myself in. Give me a court date’.’
