Networking website MySpace has struck a deal with internet phone firm Skype to allow its users to make free calls.

The Skype option, to start from the end of next month, will be added to MySpace’s existing instant messaging feature and will not require any new software.

MySpace users can also pay to call landlines and mobiles.

The firms - which boast a combined total of 330 million users - claim the collaboration will create the world’s largest online voice connected community.

‘Internet calling is the next natural step for how our members communicate with each other,’ said MySpace chief executive Chris DeWolfe.
