30 Days of Night: Return to Barrow (IDW)
HORROR
We’re back in Alaska for this outing, as a new sheriff takes over the unenviable task of keeping law in Barrow, three years after the events of the first book. As soon as we touch down in Barrow the claustrophobic edge reappears as the month of darkness approaches.
Admittedly a knowledge of the previous two chapters is useful. But this story feels far stronger, perhaps even more exhilarating than Dark Days, rushing to a poignant conclusion that draws the trilogy to a suitably bleak end. Niles’ ability to neatly tie up a story is a strength he shows throughout the series.
