Rock group Muse has scooped the best band accolade at the BT Digital Music Awards in London.

The awards were created to single out the artists who recognise the increasing emphasis on digital music, with more than 90 per cent of singles in the UK now purchased in new formats such as MP3s and ringtones.

Funeral for a Friend fended off competition from the likes of Rihanna and Razorlight for the artist of the year award.

The Chemical Brothers took the gong for best electronic artists, while Natasha Bedingfield won best pop artist.

Keane’s online skills were recognised, with the group taking home the award for best official website.

A panel of experts selected seven of the award winners, while an online vote determined the remaining 13.

The event, which was held at Camden’s Roundhouse, will be broadcast on Channel 4 tomorrow (5/10) at 0040 BST.
