Wallace and Gromit will return to our television screens for their first half hour adventure in 12 years, Aardman Animations has revealed.

The animated duo’s next outing will be Trouble at’ Mill, which will be shown on the BBC next year.

It will be the first television film for the characters since 1995’s A Close Shave.

The feature length production of The Curse of the Were-Rabbit won an Oscar for best animated feature in 2006.

With filming due to start in Bristol in January, creator Nick Park said he was looking forward to the challenge.

“It’s nice to be out of that feature film pressure now,” he said.

“I don’t feel like I’m making a film for a kid in some suburb of America – and being told they’re not going to understand a joke, or a northern saying.

“I’m making this for myself again and the people who love Wallace and Gromit.”
