Karen Dunbar

5 things you might not know about ...

1 She was a Girl Guide in Glasgow, and remains an Ambassador for the organisation. Other Scottish Ambassadors are Susan Hampshire, Charles Kennedy and David Steel. Can’t quite get my head round that one.

2 ABBA’s ‘Fernando’ is her favourite karaoke song.

3 Her TV show has been nominated twice for a Golden Rose at the prestigious telly awards at Montreux.

4 She is due to appear in a movie adaptation of Irvine Welsh’s Ecstasy alongside Richard E Grant, Billy Boyd and Jenni Falconer.

5 Before that, she’ll be strutting her panto stuff in Sleeping Beauty as Nanny Begood at the Glasgow King’s this Yuletide alongside Dawn Steele (another fellow ex-Guide) and Gerard Kelly. Who isn’t. (Brian Donaldson)

Brunton Theatre, Musselburgh, Edinburgh, Fri 12 Oct; Queen’s Hall, Edinburgh, Wed 17 Oct.

First time I saw her was on "Chewing the Fat" Amazing talent with facial movements and vocal tones that are excellent. I would guess she has classical training and natural Scottish wit. What a joy to watch her work and laughed my arse off.
