River City celebrates fifth birthday
BBC Scotland soap River City celebrates its fifth birthday today (24/9).
The programme, which is aired twice a week, will mark the occasion with a murder. A special screening will be shown tomorrow at 10pm.
Featuring comedy figures ‘Shellsuit Bob’ and Torry-born Roisin, River City now pulls in almost 600,000 viewers each week.
The show is filmed in a specially created set in Dumbarton, representing the fictional suburb of Sheildinch.
After more than three years at the helm of the show, Sandra MacIvor said: “It’s not sensationalism – realism is what we’re trying to portray.”
