Gary Lucy is returning to 'EastEnders'.
The hunky actor impressed the BBC soap's bosses so much in his brief stint as gay banker Danny Pennant last September he has now landed a deal to bring him back to Albert Square on a long-term basis and he couldn't be happier.
He said: "I'm extremely excited to be joining such a fantastic show - one which my family are huge fans of and I grew up watching.
"I enjoyed the little taster last September and am looking forward to exploring my character further."
Danny was last seen fleeing Walford after his affair with Syed Masood (Marc Elliott) shortly before he was due to marry partner Christian Clarke (John Partridge). Syed and Christian subsequently left the show, meaning Gary's alter ego will be the soap's only gay character.
'EastEnders' bosses have big things planned for Gary.
Executive producer Lorraine Newman said: "We are delighted to reveal that Gary Lucy will be returning to 'EastEnders'.
"He clearly felt at home on the show and his portrayal of Danny Pennant left us with an intriguing character to explore. It was only a matter of time before he returned.
"Danny's stories will see him cross paths with some of our best-loved characters. I am sure the audience will relish the fact that the complex nature of this character means nothing is ever simple."
