Cherie Blair signs £1m autobiography deal
Cherie Blair is expected to lift the lid on her time in Downing Street, after signing an autobiography deal worth £1million.
The wife of former Prime Minister Tony Blair, who had a famously tempestuous relationship with her husband’s successor Gordon Brown, has sold the rights to publisher Little, Brown.
Expected to chart her life from a working class childhood in 1960s Liverpool to becoming wife of the Prime Minister, Mrs Blair’s book is described as an “intimate and often very funny portrait of a family living in extraordinary circumstances”.
She said: “I feel so privileged to have travelled so far. So much has happened – things that my grandma could never have dreamt of – that it feels wrong somehow to just let it pass as if the journey had no meaning.”
However, A Labour source reportedly commented: “Two words strike dread into me: ‘Cherie’ and ‘book’.”
