POP
Imagine The White Stripes raised on summer sunshine and vintage Beach Boys instead of Detroit rain and Delta blues, and you’ll get some idea of the genius of boy-girl duo Georgie James. This is pure, driven pop music with harmonies to die for, bags of charisma and more hooks than a meat-packing factory. With Laura Burhenn’s piano sitting perfectly next to John Davis’ guitar lines, there are echoes of Ben Folds or Tori Amos, but with wondrous, wide-eyed, naïve enthusiasm replacing any knowingness or cookiness. Honestly, pop music hasn’t sounded this fresh and uplifting since Abba. Buy this record, and improve your life immediately.
