Some 20 million people attempted to register on the website for Led Zeppelin reunion tickets, proving the rock group’s popularity is far from waning.

As soon as the group announced their one-off reunion gig at the O2 arena in London, fans scrambled to make sure they were in with a chance for tickets, which will be issued by ballot.

The £125 tickets for the 20,000 capacity arena will be protected from touts, with promoter Harvey Goldsmith warning that fans attempting to sell tickets on internet auction sites would be denied access to the gig.

“They might have paid the money but they ain’t going to get the ticket,” he said.

The November 26 gig is being staged as a tribute to the late Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun, who died in 2006.

Profits from the concert will go towards scholarships in the UK, USA and Turkey.
