Emeli Sande is astonished by how much she has achieved, personally and professionally, over the last 12 months.

Emeli Sande can't believe how far she's come in 2012.

The 'Heaven' hitmaker is stunned by the huge professional success she has enjoyed this year and thinks it is "weird" that people had never heard of her just 12 months ago.

She said: "It's weird to think this time last year no one knew who I was. I've since had a number one album, two number one singles and performed in front of the world at the opening and closing Olympic ceremonies."

And it's not only in her professional life that has made Emeli enjoy this year - she married long-term boyfriend Adam Gouraguine in August.

She added: "Getting married was a highlight too, of course. It was the perfect day."

Emeli recently admitted she was very nervous ahead of her performance at the Olympic Games Opening Ceremony.

She said: "My highlight of the year was stepping out to sing 'Abide With Me' at the Olympics Opening Ceremony. That was a huge moment. And the most nerve wracking of my life, not just the year. Partly because at the dress rehearsal, in front of 16,000 people, my mic wasn't working.

"However, I felt very calm when I stepped out. You can't really see people, you can only see lights. Everybody went very quiet. It was like being underwater. "
