National Library of Scotland flooded
The National Library of Scotland (NLS) was flooded on Monday night after the sprinkler system broke down.
As Scotland’s largest library, NLS holds 13 million books and priceless documents, including the Gutenberg Bible.
Some 11 firefighters with Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue arrived at the incident in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
A spokesman said five floors of the building had been hit, and water was running out the front door.
The National Library is located on George IV Bridge.
