In a move unlikely to rock the world of film to its core, Finland’s film-makers have gone on strike.

They’ve downed light meters and clapperboards over what they claim is the government’s ‘broken promise’ to raise subsidies for movie production.

Apparently the government had promised to increase the budget by €1.2 million, but… they haven’t.

Some 23 producers have now said they won’t be working on any films until the funding has been put in place.

It’s all very well to be ribald, but homegrown cinema accounted for a quarter of all the films distributed in Finland last year, which is something to be proud of.

So one out all out. *downs tools*
