Posh and Becks nominated for Laftas award

David and Victoria Beckham have been nominated for the title of Funniest Double Act at this year’s Loaded Laftas Comedy Awards.

The couple will compete for the accolade with regular comedians such as Alan Carr and Justin Lee Collins, and Peep Show’s David Mitchell and Robert Webb.

It is suggested the Beckham’s attempts to persuade the American public to revel in their celebrity status have earned their place in the line up.

Loaded editor Martin Daubney commented: “Perhaps it’s Victoria’s growing comedy chest or her attempts to integrate into American culture by pitching at baseball matches that have had the British public laughing.

“The Laftas are voted for by the Great British public which makes them the only comedy awards worth their salt.”

Also up for awards are Peter Andre for Funniest Reality TV Person, Extras star Ashley Jenson for Funniest Woman, and Ricky Gervais for Best Stand Up.
