KT Tunstall delared she wanted to make a ‘scuzzy rock’n’roll album’, but teaming up with Steve Osbourne, who has put the gloss on Placebo, Happy Mondays and U2 among others in the past, meant it was never really going to happen. Instead, Tunstall has delivered a confident, accomplished second album. Most importantly perhaps, the thing that made her so appealing before: that crackling warmth and folksy edge to her songs, remains. When she brings this to the fore like on ‘Paper Aeroplane’‘Someday Soon’ and ‘Beauty of Uncertainty’, is when her songs truly take flight.
