Gervais castle gig profits to go to charity
Ricky Gervais has attempted to deflect criticism from his Edinburgh Castle show by announcing that all profits would be donated to a Scottish cancer charity.
The comedian had come under fire over the scale of the 8,000-seat show, for which punters were charged £37.50 a ticket.
However, it emerged yesterday that MacMillan Cancer Relief will benefit from the show. The charity will need to wait a week before finding how much money it will receive.
The one-man show from the creator of The Office sold out six months ago.
