Syed and Christian leaving EastEnders
'EastEnders' are to have their popular gay lovers leave the soap in an explosive storyline.
Syed Masood (Marc Elliott) and Christian Clarke (John Partridge) are being written out of 'EastEnders' in a dramatic new storyline.
The gay couple have had a rocky couple of years, with family feuds and marriages getting in the way of their romance, but following Marc's decision to quit the BBC soap, producers have decided to give them a big exit - although the details are being kept secret.
Executive producer Lorraine Newman told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "When Marc announced he had decided to move on, we had a tough decision to make. After numerous conversations, which included John, it was decided that there is only one outcome for Syed and Christian. We wish them both all the best for the future."
Marc and John have broken both gay and Muslim boundaries in the show, and Marc claims he has had a great time on Albert Square.
He said: "I've had a brilliant time on 'EastEnders' and made some brilliant friends.
"I have been blessed with some incredible storylines."
John added: "I have had the time of my life at 'EastEnders' but I have always gone with my instincts - and leaving at the same time as Marc felt like the only thing to do."
