Oscar fishing with Kidman and Fiennes

The latest ‘nailed on for at least one Oscar production’ would appear to be The Reader, set to star Nicole Kidman and Ralph Fiennes. Based on the acclaimed bestseller by German author Bernhard Schlink, the movie is further upping its Oscar potential by roping in Stephen Daldry as director, being adapted by playwright David Hare and produced by Anthony Minghella. It’s a shoo-in.
