Four Mobo nominations for Winehouse

This year’s Music of Black Origin (Mobo) Awards could offer a chance for Amy Winehouse to redeem herself to fans, scooping nominations for best UK female, best R&B act, best video and best song. The Back to Black singer only days ago disappointed US fans when she cancelled a string of gigs stateside citing ill health.

Jamelia, who will co-host the event in September with Shaggy and is also in the running for best UK female, said of the singer: “I just hope she gets better very soon and can come back and continue to give us the great music she has been doing. I think it’s fantastic she has been nominated. I think she could have been nominated for a few years now. So yes, it’s about time and hopefully she’ll perform for us at the Mobos.”
