UK box office hit for Bourne
The Bourne Ultimatum has reached the top spot in the UK and Ireland box office in its first week of general release. It took £5.3 million in its opening weekend, almost twice as much as the previous Bourne movie in 2004. In the movie, Matt Damon stars as former government trained assassin Jason Bourne, whose character has been compared to that of legendary James Bond, although Damon played down this comparison. He said: “It’s not better or worse, it’s just different and it’s almost impossible to compare.” The film also topped the US charts a couple of weeks ago. Elsewhere in the UK box office The Simpsons Movie held on the second place, followed by Rush Hour 3, Bratz: The Movie and Transformers.
