Michelle Keegan faces Strictly battle
Michelle Keegan is wanted for the next series of 'Strictly Come Dancing' but faces a battle with 'Coronation Street' bosses to be given a break from the show.
'Strictly Come Dancing' bosses face a "battle" to get Michelle Keegan on the show.
Producers on the BBC dance contest are keen to sign up the 25-year-old actress for the next series, but could face opposition from her 'Coronation Street' bosses.
A source said: "We have our hit list and it's Michelle who tops it. We want her but we know it will be a battle to get her."
Michelle would have to be given special permission to take a break from her role as Tina McIntyre and soap insiders think her request would be refused because - unlike last year when Antony Cotton was given leave to take part in ITV1's 'I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!' - 'Strictly' airs on rival station BBC1.
A source told the Daily Star newspaper: "The Beeb can dream on. For starters, Michelle has some big storylines coming up at the end of the year.
"And if she was going to do anything outside 'Corrie' then we'd want her on 'Dancing On Ice'."
A spokesperson for 'Coronation Street' said: "Offers to our actors are considered on merit."
If Michelle is granted permission to appear on 'Strictly', she is likely to compete against Westlife's Nicky Byrne, former 'BBC Breakfast' host Sian Williams, presenter Fern Britton, and retired cricketer Michael Vaughan.
