Corrie's Catherine Tyldesley: Eva smothered Nick
'Coronation Street' star Catherine Tyldesley admits her alter-ego smothered Nick Tilsley with affection and was so obsessed with him that she didn't realise he was more interested in her half-sister Leanne Barlow.
'Coronation Street' star Catherine Tyldesley admits her alter-ego smothered Nick Tilsley in their relationship.
The blonde actress plays Eva Price in the ITV1 soap and believes the feisty bar manager was too loved-up with the restaurateur to notice he was more interested in her onscreen half-sister Leanne Barlow (Jane Danson).
She said: "She really does love him, she fell for him big time. She was a little big smothery though.
"But as a viewer I quite like that he loves Leanne."
Catherine is now concerned her alter-ego - whose mother is Rovers Return landlady Stella Price (Michelle Collins) - will lose another important person in her life as her sisterly relationship with Leanne looks to be in doubt after the bossy bookmaker took her man.
She explained: "I think Eva was used to having mum to herself but Leanne's not going anywhere so she's thought, 'You know what, she's not that bad'. They're getting on at the moment."
Catherine celebrates her one year anniversary on 'Coronation Street' later this month and is still as excited about working alongside Michelle after watching her portray man-eater Cindy Beale in rival BBC One soap 'EastEnders' during her younger years.
Speaking on ITV1's 'Lorraine', she added: "I grew up watching Michelle as the infamous Cindy Beale and now she's creating another soap icon - it's great.
"Everytime I get a script I get more and more giddy, I can't wait for the next plot to arrive."
