Carrie Underwood surprised by song lyrics
Carrie Underwood never knows "what's going to come out" when she starts writing songs.
Carrie Underwood never knows "what's going to come out" when she starts writing.
The 'Good Girl' singer co-wrote eight of the 14 tracks on her new album 'Blown Away' but admitted she often feels has no idea what the end results will be when she sits down to compose.
She told The Boot: "That's the great thing about being an entertainer. You're just a big actor. I'm not the person in person that I am on stage. It just gives you a license to just lie to people I guess. That's a horrible way to put it. You can just make up all this stuff. When we start sitting down and writing songs, you just never know what's going to come out."
Carrie recently revealed she is a huge fan of Queen and My Chemical Romance.
The country singer doesn't confine herself to listening to or playing only one type of music, and on her new record she wanted to capture some of their huge-sounding bombastic styling herself.
She said: "I grew up listening to Queen. They were no stranger to throwing in the unexpected and something a little more dramatic.
"When you look at like, the modern version of that, it's My Chemical Romance - they're one of my favourites.
"On 'Blown Away' there really is something for everybody, it's a big mix of influences.
"It's heart is in country music, and the rest of it is all over. Every other kind of music."
