Karen Gillan has shot "very emotional" scenes as her 'Doctor Who' exit draws closer.
The 24-year-old actress burst into tears while portraying Amy Pond in some of her final scenes on the BBC One show yesterday (07.04.12), as she filmed opposite onscreen husband Rory Williams (Arthur Darvill) at the programme's Cardiff Bay set.
An insider told The Sun newspaper: "She was seen waving goodbye to the Doctor in his Tardis after a teary row with Rory.
"It was very emotional and viewers will feel that when they see the scenes on screen."
The last 'Doctor Who' episode featuring Amy and Rory together will be shot in New York and the flame-haired beauty will leave in the fifth episode of the new series - which sees Matt Smith reprise his role as the Time Lord - due to be screened later this year.
Karen is being replaced on the show by former 'Emmerdale' star Jenna-Louise Coleman - who stars as maid Annie Desmond in ITV1's 'Titanic' - and the brunette beauty is "really excited" about starting her new role.
She explained: "I'm so excited and it's so exciting that the news is finally out too. I've known for about six weeks or two months but I couldn't tell anyone.
"I can't say anything about my character yet but her first episode is the Christmas special."
