An awfully big adventure

This beautiful story follows the adventures of Tomas and his dog Don Alfonso as they travel to the moon, where Tomas hopes to find his mother. Along the way they encounter vibrant characters, such as the very grumpy eagle in the mountains, all depicted by an enthusiastic and talented four-strong cast.

Occasionally the sheer earnestness of the show borders on the trite, but it’s soon whipped back into line by some very funny moments, or the suspense of another twist in the tale. The set is simple but effective, and the situations are strung together by the energetic narrator (Lachlan Chapman) with just enough wit to keep spirits up during the touching moments, while not detracting from the plot. Perfectly paced, thoughtfully directed and utterly charming, this is a journey the audience is sad to see come to an end. (Siân Bevan)
