Thomas Truax and Paul Vickers & The Leg American eccentric Truax, who does his own one man pop thing, is unequal parts Syd Barrett, Aphex Twin, Frank Sidebottom and Frank Zappa. A real trip. Underbelly, 0870 745 3083, 22 Aug, 9pm, £8.

Tom Tom Club Three men, three mics, a bunch of drums and tons of energy go into this absolutely superb beatbox, breakin’ hip hop frenzy. Udderbelly’s Pasture, 0870 745 3083, until 27 Aug (not 13), 4pm, £12–£13.50 (£10–£12).

Found A sound installation where boxes project noises that are manipulated by the punter projected out over quadrophonic speakers. It sounds mental but it works. Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop, 551 4490, 16–19, 23–26 Aug, 11am-5pm, free.

Harmony and Humanity Early music is not about shows that start in the morning but those choral works that have been with us for hundreds of years. This season brings together some of Europe’s finest chrosal groups in a season of concerts in atmospheric surrounds. Greyfriars Kirk, 473 2000, 20–24, 28 Aug–1 Sep, 6pm (9pm, 21), £17.

Chemikal Underground Showcase featuring Mother and the Addicts, Aidan Moffat and the Best Ofs and DeRosa A cunning triple bill heralding Chemikal’s 100th release, the excellent new Moother and the Addicts album A first showing for Mr Moffat’s new post-Arab Strap Adventure.
