I’m a Cyborg, But That’s OK
Festival treat from Park Chan-wook
Firm Festival favourite Park Chan-wook, the South Korean filmmaker who served up the queasy perplexing delights of Old Boy and Lady Vengeance, returns with something very different. I’m a Cyborg, But That’s OK is a madcap romantic comedy set inside a psychiatric hospital. Patient Young-goon (Lim Soo-jung) believes she is a combat cyborg – but then everyone around her is psychotic in one way or another. When she falls for Il-sun (Jung Ji-hoon), a young man with a compulsion for stealing people’s souls, her fragile world takes on a new cadence. This is one of the highlights of the Festival’s Director’s Showcase.
Cameo, 623 8030, 19 Aug, 10pm & 22 Aug, 5.30pm, both £7.95 (£5.50).
