Stand-up
For someone who describes himself as a ‘twat’ and claims to suffer from low self-esteem, Barrie exudes a reassuring confidence that draws you into his world and holds you there. His show hangs around the loose theme that we’re all going to hell in a handcart, illustrated by some refreshing takes on well-trodden hot topics such as global warming, the Glasgow terror attacks and the futility of attempting to hug hoodies. Underbelly, 0870 745 3083, until 26 Aug, 9.55pm, £9.50–£10.50 (£8.50–£9.50).
