Paddy McGuinness' dating advice
Paddy McGuinness says confidence is the key in getting a date on ITV1 dating show 'Take Me Out' rather than good looks.
Paddy McGuinness says confidence is the key in getting a date on 'Take Me Out'.
The 38-year-old presenter has hosted the ITV1 dating show - in which one single man has to impress 30 women to keep their light on so he can pick one at the end - since January 2010 and now knows what it takes to get a woman not to switch off her light.
He told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "I've done enough 'Take Me Out' to work out the trick to it now. Good looks will get you so far, but after that it's just about confidence.
"If you trip up on the steps on your way on stage you've got to just style it out, make it look like you don't care. Otherwise they'll eat you alive.
"I'd have no trouble with most of it, but I often wonder what I'd show the girls as my 'talent' in the final round. The only thing I'm really good at is making mashed potato, so I'd do that and get them to taste it. They'd all be totally blown away."
However, Paddy is unlikely to ever need to go on the show as he is happily married to 23-year-old model Christine Martin.
He said: "I could never have married a trophy wife. It would drive me potty not to be able to have a conversation with my partner - or a laugh. Yes, she's gorgeous but she's also really good company and the least showy-offy girl you'll ever meet.
"I know it sounds cheesy but I don't want to be apart from her - I still live in Bolton and try to drive back straight after working in London so I can be at home. She's everything to me."
