EastEnders' Zainab Khan thinks her nightmare is over when evil husband Yusuf shows remorse for his recent actions - but then drugs her and locks her in their house.

EastEnders' Zainab Khan thinks her marriage nightmare is over when her husband begins to show remorse.

The mother-of-four stands up to sinister doctor Yusef Khan (Ace Bhatti) - who has taken away her son Kamil as part of a bid to keep her under his control - and is shocked when he expresses regret for his recent actions, claiming he only wanted the sort of relationship with her that she had with ex-husband Masood.

However, Yusuf then turns on Zainab (Nina Wadia) and drugs her, locking her in their home and telling her about his plans for them to start a new life abroad.

With Masood (Nitin Ganatra) aware of what has been happening, he faces a race against time to stop his family being taken away.

However, as it is already known a huge fire is set to sweep Albert Square over the festive period, it seems unlikely there will be a happy ending.

Nina recently admitted her current storyline has been both "interesting and frightening".

She said: "When you spend the day trying to avoid making someone angry so they don't hit you, your sense of reason goes completely.

"Seeing my character become trapped in a violent web spun by Yusef beginning with clever words and mental torture and escalating to physical violence has been both interesting and frightening."
