Jason Donovan says his wife doesn't mind the raunchy moves he has to perform with his 'Strictly Come Dancing' partner Kristina Rihanoff because she knows it's important for the show.

Jason Donovan says his wife doesn't mind the raunchy moves he has to perform with his 'Strictly Come Dancing' partner Kristina Rihanoff.

The former 'Neighbours' star has to get quite intimate with the blonde beauty during some of his routines for the BBC One show but insists spouse Angela is fine about it.

The father-of-three said: "Our relationship is beyond that. I've just done the 'Sound of Music' where I have to kiss Maria every single night. This is mild by comparison.

"Ange and I have been together a long time. Our relationship is extremely strong. We haven't even talked about it.

"This is my profession. If I was 23 and I didn't have kids and I was just with a girlfriend it might be a bit different."

However, Jason - who found himself in the bottom two last week before Robbie Savage was given the boot - admits Ange sometimes has to tell him not to take his routines so seriously.

He told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "It's difficult to be relaxed in front of 13 million people. Even my wife says I come across as very serious. But I'm just being myself.

"I do take it seriously. It doesn't mean I'm not a fun character. It's a bigger experience than I thought it would be.

"I'm not complaining, but maybe the Jason Donovan who started this series looking fleshy, suntanned, fun, fun, fun, is different to the man you see now."
