Without Control

ELELCTRONICA
The Spirals is yet another alias of Argentinian house duo Fernando Pulichino and Julian Sanza. Without Control starts off with all the sass and funk of a Prince backing track, but proceeds to go nowhere for 56 long minutes. There are occasional flashes of Daft Punk and Justice in among the hooky, serviceable house, but their sound as a whole is resolutely softcore, with none of the grubby edginess that makes similar recent releases stand out. It’s perfectly inoffensive, and exactly the sort of thing you’d expect to hear perking up a style bar at the weekend, but really does feel like a waste of talent.
