Coronation Street's Sunita Alahan will quit the corner shop to become the new Rovers Return barmaid.
The feisty shopkeeper - played by Shobna Gulati -is sick of husband Dev (Jimmi Harkishin) treating her like a "slave" and reaches the end of her tether in the new year when he buys a car for his 21-year-old daughter Amber (Nikki Patel) and grants her a day off while Sunita puts in the hours behind the counter.
Sunita tells her spouse: "I'm not taking any more of this. I'm fed up of being treated like a slave while Amber gets away with murder, so you can take the job and shove it because I'm out of here."
However, Sunita - who has twins Aadi and Asha with Dev - isn't out of work for long, as Rovers Return landlady Stella Price (Michelle Collins) quickly offers her a job pulling pints.
Shobna thinks Sunita's and Dev's relationship has changed and rather than Sunita being submissive towards the burly businessman, she is now more than able to stand up for herself.
She told OK! magazine: "I think she realised halfway down the line that her children were the most important thing in her life, and she went back to Dev because of that.
"At the end of the day, I think the tables are turning in their relationship. She was the shop girl in love with him, and very much at his whim and fancy, but now he's constantly running to her tune."
