Smoking to be axed from Disney films
Disney is poised to axe smoking from films aimed at family audiences and will also ‘discourage’ its portrayal in films released under the Touchstone and Miramax brands. Chief executive Robert A Iger made the announcement in a letter to US congressman Edward Markey, who described the move as ‘groundbreaking’. He added: “Now it’s time for other media companies to similarly kick the habit and follow Disney’s lead.”
