Harry Hill has reportedly quit 'TV Burp', despite being offered a £1 million pay rise to continue with the programme.
Harry Hill has quit 'TV Burp'.
The 46-year-old comic has reportedly turned down a £1 million pay rise to continue doing the show - a comic review of the previous week's TV highlights - because he hates the Saturday night programme so much.
A source said: "Harry kept telling people how much he hated doing it but they thought he was joking. He wasn't."
Despite the claims, ITV insisted they have a "great relationship" with the funnyman and another series of the show will be shown in 2012, 10 years after it began.
However, a spokesman at Avalon, who make the programme, told The Sun newspaper: "Harry has a lot of commitments in the next year but a final decision has not yet been reached."
Harry has previously said the show made him "suicidal" and he felt "mental" after finishing filming.
He said: "It is a drag. One year I did 21 shows - most series are only eight. At the end I was completely mental."
He has also admitted he "dreads" filming the programme because of the time it took to compile the clips.
He said: "I do dread makig the show. Watching TV is all-consuming."
