Brian Dowling is ''terrified'' of former 'Big Brother' presenter Davina McCall, who hosted the fly-on-the-wall series for 10 years on Channel 4.

Brian Dowling is "terrified" of former 'Big Brother' presenter Davina McCall.

The Irish TV host - who is fronting the fly-on-the-wall series when it re-launches on Channel 5 on Thursday (18.08.11) - explained Davina, who hosted the show for 10 years on Channel 4, is "on hand" to give him advice.

He told BANG Showbiz: "Any queries at all, she's on hand. But if she came down to the show I really would be so nervous. She's a huge fan and has said she'll be watching the show, which means she'll be watching me.

"I'm terrified, but she picked me as her favourite housemate of all time, which is a real honour. It could be awkward if she'd said someone else."

While Brian admitted he is nervous about messing up his timings, he won't be turning to alcohol to calm his nerves as the last time he did he fell asleep on a date's shoulder.

He added: "In the run-through I was so pre-occupied with my timings and everything but Davina just told me to enjoy it. People are very forgiving so as long as you look like you're enjoying yourself.

"I am going to be nervous, but it's live TV - you'd be crazy if you weren't. I've got 10 years experience now but I do think no-one else has done this apart from Davina and it's scary.

"Everyone keeps telling me to do a shot of whisky, but last time I did that I was on a date and fell asleep on the guy's shoulder so I don't think that's a very good idea."
