From Hollyoaks to Hollywood for Ricky Whittle
Ricky Whittle has taken his career from 'Hollyoaks' to Hollywood, landing a role in new movie 'Austenland', starring Jane Seymour, JJ Fields and Jennifer Coolidge.
Ricky Whittle has landed a role in a Hollywood blockbuster.
The former 'Hollyoaks' actor - who quit the show in order to launch a movie career - will star opposite in Jane Seymour, JJ Fields and Jennifer Coolidge in 'Austenland' and while his role of suitor Captain George East is small, Ricky is hopeful it will get him noticed by film bosses.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "It's Ricky's dream to crack America and he's perfect for this. He isn't the romantic lead but it's the perfect part to get him noticed.
"He loved 'Hollyoaks', but he's never made a secret of his love of films."
'Austenland' is based on the bestselling book of the same name about a single woman who is obsessed with Jane Austen and attempts to find her own Mr. Darcy, the hero from 'Pride and Prejudice'.
Ricky has previously admitted he is happy to do anything on screen so long as he gets paid, and insisted he wasn't embarrassed about the number of topless scenes he was given on 'Hollyoaks'.
He said: "They were always making me take my shirt off! If you look up the definition of a prostitute in the dictionary, it's pretty much the same definition as an actor - paid to do whatever."
