Jane Danson promises Corrie excitement for Leanne
Jane Danson has revealed her 'Coronation Street' character Leanne Barlow will not have a quiet life now her marital troubles with Peter Barlow have been resolved.
Jane Danson has promised more "exciting" storylines for her 'Coronation Street' alter ego.
The actress' character Leanne Barlow has recently reunited with husband Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne) following their recent split, which came amid revelations she had an affair with her former spouse Nick Tilsley (Ben Price), but the 32-year-old star has promised fans the couple won't be settling down into domestic bliss.
Jane said: "I've not received the scripts but I know what's in store in the coming months - in the summer months. It's very exciting and, of course, I can't say anything because it's more than my job's worth!
"I thought now that they're married they'll probably have a baby and do the expected thing. But I think I'm alright to say that it's not that. I would love to tell you what it is. Keep watching."
Jane admits she was initially unhappy when scriptwriters revealed they planned for Leanne to have an affair, but she thinks it has made both hers and Chris' characters even better for the storyline.
Speaking on TV show 'This Morning', she said: "They're both flawed characters. He's got a lot of demons, she's got a lot of demons and they both don't really think about things before they do anything, and that can cause problems further down the line.
"But they really understand each other and I think over the last couple of years the writers have been really invested in those two characters, so to see them apart for a while and [Leanne] having an affair, I was a bit like, 'Oh no, don't rock the boat!' But it gave us both opportunities to work with different characters and it gives scope for the future. But for the moment, they're very much together."
