Pearl Jam have demos of 25 new songs and will go into the studio next month to start a new album.
Pearl Jam will start recording their tenth studio album next month.
The 'Jeremy' rockers are celebrating their 20th anniversary as a group in 2011, and already have a group of demo ideas recorded in preparation for the new record.
Bassist Jeff Ament told Billboard.com: "We did a whole bunch of demos and everybody's got a disc of 25 songs right now.
"There's been so much focus on the past that I think all of us are really excited to make a new record.
"April will be the time where we get together and learn to play all these demos and figure out which 12-15 of them float to the top. Hopefully we can get something done this year."
While he remains hopeful a new record could be completed this year, 2011 is a busy time for the band, with Jeff and singer Eddie Vedder working on solo albums, while drummer Matt Cameron will also record a new record with his other band, Soundgarden.
In addition, the group are releasing a documentary called 'Twenty', which charts their career, and planning their own festival for September.
Speaking about plans for the event, Jeff added: "We've reached out to a few other bands. It's mostly people that we're friends with. I don't think that anybody's fully signed on yet. We're not 100 per cent where we're going to have it yet, so it's a little bit tricky."
