February dates in Glasgow, Nottingham and London first in UK for three years
Bright Eyes will be returning to the UK for the first time in over three years with an intimate February tour to promote new album The People's Key (released Feb 14 2011) prior to a sold-out concert at the Royal Albert Hall on Jun 23.
The American indie/folk outfit, helmed by Conor Oberst, broke into the UK music scene back in 2002 with their fourth album, Lifted or The Story Is In The Soil, Keep Your Ear To The Ground, after remaining relatively unnoticed during previous years of their existence. Founded by singer-songwriter and guitarist Conor Oberst while still in his teens, the project's profile rocketed with the 2005 albums Digital Ash in a Digital Urn (2005) and I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning (2005). In 2008, Oberst dissolved the act, announcing his intention to work on solo material under his own name. Bright Eyes last performed in the UK in 2007 at Glastonbury, shortly before Oberst announced his decision to dissolve the band. Bright Eyes is now a going concern again, with the intention being to break away from the folk roots of previous albums, as promosed on The People's Key, the band's seventh studio album, which promises to have a distinctly earthier rock-edge to it. As a taster for what the new album holds, the track Shell Games has been released for free download on Saddle Creek Records' website.
Tickets go on sale for this über hushed-up tour from 9am on Friday January 14th, so get your hands on some by calling 0871 230 1094. There is also an alleged presale at HMV's ticket website for 9am Wed 12 Jan for the keen beans (www.hmvtickets.com/events/2558).
