Christmas music
Sufjan Stevens has become synonymous with 21st century Christmas music. In fact, the musician's discography could almost be divided in two, such is the sheer quantity of his Christmas music.
'I Saw Three Ships' is one of his more upbeat holiday-based songs, revamping the classic carol into a vintage Sufjan-esque tune of orchestral seasonal wonder. The choice of song is indicative of the man's religious influences, expressed throughout much of his work, particularly on 'Songs for Christmas' and 'Seven Swans'. Much recommended if you're looking for something accessibly pleasing and baroquely sounding.
