Manic Street Preachers are planning to release a new album of ''pure indulgence'' called '70s Songs of Hatred and Failure' next year.

Manic Street Preachers are planning to release a new album of "pure indulgence" next year.

The bassist with the '(It's Not War) Just the End of Love' group said they already have a title for the record, '70s Songs of Hatred and Failure', and it will showcase a very different sound to their tenth album, 'Postcards From A Young Man' - which was released in September this year.

Nicky told NME magazine: "The next album will be pure indulgence. There's only so much melody stored in your body that you can physically get onto one record. Our last was just so utterly commercial and melodic.

"And I'm not sure if we'll be able to go through that again, just on an energy level."

Of the quick follow up time between albums, Nicky added that the band are confident in their sound and identity, and that they are charting their career on their own terms.

He added: "If you look at bands on their tenth album, very few of them have any relevance whatsoever. In terms of mass communication we achieved our relevance and did it on our own terms."
