'You're Beautiful' singer James Blunt found fame difficult to come to terms with because he ''wanted to put out music, and be a private person''.

The 'You're Beautiful' hitmaker was faced with the problem of having millions of people relate to his songs, but not wanting to fully explain his lyrics in public.

He told the Scotland's The Herald newspaper: "I wanted to put out music and be a private person. I would find it difficult to describe certain things.

"I was feeling uncomfortable talking about myself because men don't like to talk about ourselves. I felt uncomfortable describing or explaining where certain lyrics came from because those lyrics are enough, otherwise I would have written a third verse with more words."

James, 36, a former officer in the British army's Life Guards has, however - ahead of his third album, 'Some Kind Of Trouble' - become more accepting of his fame and found a way of putting criticism into perspective, by talking with his old army friends.

He added "If I read a horrid article about me I can call up my best friend and he will say, 'Yeah, so-and-so lost their leg today and so-and-so died today.' Who do you think had the tougher day?"

'Some Kind Of Trouble' is released on November 8.
